The new Cruise 3 kW, 6 kW and 12 kW electric outboard and pod motors for 2022
Torqeedo continues to lead the way in electric mobility on the water, announcing a full product-line upgrade of its market-leading Cruise motors. The new Cruise lineup will consist of 3 kW, 6 kW and 12 kW outboard and pod motors powered by lithium-ion batteries from the highest quality production. But more power doesn’t mean more weight – Cruise motors are still the lightest electric outboards in their power classes.
The new six- to twenty-five horsepower-equivalent motors have a completely reworked electrical design with enhanced thermal behaviour, an even more robust aluminium pylon with integral fin, ultra-quiet and durable helical gears, and improved tiller functionality. Cruise 12.0 and 6.0 Remote and Fixed Pod drives now ship with TorqLink, Torqeedo’s advanced communications system which allows faster and more accurate data sharing between system components. TorqLink makes solar charging, charging via hydrogeneration, and AC generator integration as simple as 1-2-3 when paired with Torqeedo’s Power 48-5000 lithium-ion batteries and chargers.
The new Cruise 3.0 R / Cruise 3.0 T is an affordably priced 6 horsepower-equivalent drive system for sailboats up to 30 feet or displacement hulls up to 3 tons. This lightweight electric drive system runs on 24-Volts for easy integration of up to sixteen Power 24-3500 lithium-ion batteries.
For 2022, the redesigned 9.9 horsepower-equivalent Cruise 6.0 with TorqLink easily powers displacement vessels up to 5 tons or lightweight planing RIBs. A complete Cruise 6.0 outboard system weighs less than 70 kg, including battery and throttle. Need more range or more power? Consider a twin system for vessels up to 10 tons, or add more energy storage. Up to eight Power 48-5000 batteries can be connected to your Cruise drive system, extending range to up to 200 nm.
The new, high-thrust Cruise 12.0 with TorqLink is suitable for displacement boats up to 12 tons or small planing boats. The Cruise 12.0 outboard weighs just 60 kg, while the Fixed Pod version tips the scales at just 34 kg. Both drives deliver exceptional thrust, powering displacement hulls with a 25 horsepower-equivalent.
“With the launch of the all-new Cruise motor lineup, Torqeedo continues to innovate and define the future of how people move on the water. Our mission is to deliver a climate-neutral and more sustainable boating experience that delights our customers,” said Dr Ralf Plieninger, Torqeedo’s managing director.
