François Gabart

François Gabart and his Travel XP

One of the world’s most accomplished offshore sailors, François Gabart is an adventurer who never stops exploring new horizons. After his record‑breaking solo circumnavigation and victory in the Vendée Globe, he is now beginning a new chapter: a three‑year voyage around the world with his family, sailing on a catamaran. His dinghy is powered by the Torqeedo Travel XP, ensuring cleaner, quieter, and reliable electric propulsion wherever the journey takes him. As part of Torqeedo’s Electric Explorers, François stands for real adventure, and a deep respect for nature. His journey demonstrates how high‑performance electric mobility opens new, sustainable ways to discover the world — silent, less-emissions, and driven by innovation.
“About ten years ago, I first tested the Torqeedo Travel 1103. I was impressed by its user‑friendly design and lightweight build. I’m excited to embark on my next personal adventure and set sail with the Travel XP.”

Joining them onboard is Ocean, their adventurous ship cat. Laura and Arne stand for sustainable ocean travel and low‑impact exploration — showing how adventure and environmental responsibility work together. For shore runs and exploring remote anchorages, they use the Torqeedo Travel XP with a YAM275 Air dinghy, giving them quiet, low-emisson mobility and reliable performance that supports their life at sea.
“With our Travel XP and the YAM dinghy, a new chapter has begun. For the first time, our journeys from the mooring feel like flying. Quiet. Powerful. Sustainable. A motor that runs on our own solar power. No more smell. No more hoping and worrying. Our new ‘car on the sea’ has arrived – and it’s changing everything. ”

Mikkel „Small Boat School“ and his Travel XP

A dedicated boatbuilder and teacher, Mikkel Pagh is someone who believes that real progress on the water begins with craftsmanship, curiosity, and respect for nature. Mikkel founded the Small Boat School in 2021 to share traditional wooden boatbuilding skills through online courses and hands‑on workshops. Today, he lives and works with his family on the Danish island of Langeland, building boats and teaching close to the landscapes that inspire his work. Powered by Torqeedo electric propulsion, Mikkel moves on the water quietly, and with intention—preserving the character of traditional boats while embracing modern, low-emission technology. As a member of Torqeedo’s Electric Explorers, Mikkel represents a mindset where craftsmanship and technology work hand in hand. His story demonstrates how electric propulsion empowers a quieter, cleaner way to move on the water—preserving tradition while opening new paths forward.
„For me, wooden boatbuilding is about crafting beautiful, sculptural objects that allow people to get a closer connection with nature. The Torqeedo motor range, with its silent and low-emission operation is the perfect match for my boats.”
