Green is the new Glam

Principality of Monaco (September 25, 2019) - The yachting industry has gathered for the Monaco Yacht Show, where 125 stunning superyachts are on display and the latest trends in yachting are explored. Sustainability is again one of those topics, with superyachts like the hybrid-powered Savannah with over 1 megawatt of installed battery capacity - the equivalent of 1,093 Torqeedo Travel batteries - leading the conversation.

But the principality is doing more than just talking the talk. Monaco’s own Team Malizia recently completed a zero-emission transatlantic crossing with climate activist Greta Thunberg on board, a mission Torqeedo was proud to assist with electric support vessels at the launch in the UK and the arrival in the US.

Monaco is also heavily investing in clean boating technology, including e-boat charging infrastructure and a new fleet of 100% electric in-harbour workboats by Naviwatt. These emission-free RIBs can also serve as yacht tenders or expedition boats for cruise liners powered by a 50 kW (80 horsepower-equivalent) Deep Blue outboard and battery system. Top speed is 37 km/h and max range is 204 km with just one battery.

Torqeedo staff will be on hand during the yacht show. Please contact to schedule a meeting.
